ESSENTIALS FOR SAFE HARBOR – Collections taken up for this abused women’s shelter along with monetary donations.
FRONTERA DE CHRISTO – Our church supports a Mexican owner-grown and operated coffee producer in Mexico. Every first Sunday of the month, we are able to choose from a wide assortment of this delicious coffee, with the proceeds returning to the growers.
GOLDEN CORNER FOOD PANTRY – Many of our congregation volunteer at the food pantry, serving on the board, sorting food, interviewing, and helping to box and deliver food to clients’ cars.
GOOD SAMARITAN FUND – This is a church-based budget item that is used to supplement a need for a client from Oconee County Ministries, and is also used at the discretion of the minister to assist a member of the congregation.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY – Our church has many volunteers working for this organization, and occasionally holds a monetary collection.
MISSIONARIES – A line item in the Mission budget provides for support for missionaries which are rotated yearly.
OCONEE UNITED MINISTRIES – An organization formed in 1981 by the county Presbyterian Churches, Oconee United Ministries assists residents of Oconee County in crisis by paying utility bills, rent, and prescriptions. The organization is housed rent-free in our church’s Chapter House and is a United Way agency. Funding comes from local churches, yard sales, individual donations, golf tournaments, and grants.
OUR DAILY REST – Our Daily Rest is a shelter for the homeless that is located across the street from Our Daily Bread. Two of our members were founders of the shelter and served on the board for many years. Another member is the senior case manager there, and our circles occasionally provide meals for the residents. Our church is located close enough that sometimes residents join us for worship.
RIPPLE OF ONE –Seneca Presbyterian previously housed this great organization that “adopts” families, and through the process of mentoring and financial counseling, empowers them to move beyond government assistance. They have outgrown their space with us, but we continue our support of their ministry.
WEEKEND FOOD FOR ELEMENTARY CHILDREN – Our church supports the Backpack Program through our Souper Bowl collection and has also delivered food to families with children in a depressed area throughout the summer months.
WILD HEARTS EQUINE THERAPEUTIC CENTER – Wild Hearts Equine Therapeutic Center cultivates powerful connections between people and horses through innovative and customized equine-assisted learning and therapeutic riding programs. The programs offer low or no-cost assistance to those with physical, intellectual, or emotional challenges including people dealing with trauma, behavioral or social issues, at-risk youth and victims of abuse, as well as active-duty military personnel and veterans.
Get Support
The following groups meet in our church on an on-going basis.
AA – Alcoholics Anonymous is an international mutual aid fellowship with the stated purpose of enabling its members to “stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.”
AL-ANON – Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking.
PARKINSON’S – Parkinson’s Association support groups encourage members to share information, give and receive mutual support and exchange coping skills with one another.
Our Community
ANNUAL YARD SALE – Held the last Saturday of May, this event is highly regarded in Oconee County as “the yard sale of the year”! The event is highly profitable and is also an arena for great fellowship with each other in our congregation, but also residents of the county. All proceeds go to missions.
CHILDREN’S PACKETS – The church’s Mission Committee prepares small packets containing coloring books and crayons and small toys for those children needing to wait for family or to be seen themselves in the hospital Emergency waiting room.
CHRISTMAS PARADE TREATS – A table under a lighted tent is set up on the corner of 1st and Oak to provide hot chocolate and homemade cookies to those watching the parade, and sometimes those in the parade!
CLEMSON CHRISTIAN STUDENTS’ DINNERS – The Deacon committee prepares a meal, delivers it, and fellowships with Clemson students twice a year.
GOPHERS – This group provides transportation (usually doctors’ appointments) for our congregation and any Oconee County resident in need. Clients are screened by United Way.
GUATEMALAN REFUGEE FAMILIES - Our church, working with some other churches, has formed the Seneca Circle of Welcome that is helping five(5) Guatemalan families, who had to flee their own country due to persecution, to resettle here in Seneca.
HELPING HANDS OF CLEMSON COLLECTIONS – Our Presbyterian Women have a collection at the Christmas Workshop each year to collect needed items for the children at this facility.
KNITTERS – An ever-growing group of women gather to knit sweaters, hats, scarves, baby hats for newborns at the hospital and lap robes for needy children, residents of nursing homes and members of the armed services.
LITTLE LENDING LIBRARY – Located just outside the entrance to our Educational Building, this library is a replica of those around the county and prefers children’s books but will accept any!
MEALS ON WHEELS – We deliver meals for two routes, one on Monday and one on Tuesday.
OUR DAILY BREAD – Our Daily Bread is a community kitchen that serves food to those who need it. Our church volunteers serve on the fourth Friday of each month, and one of our members is the captain for Monday food service. We also provide Sabbath lunches three months of each year.
POST OFFICE FOOD DRIVE – Our church provides trucks (and drivers!) to pick up food at the Oconee County Post Offices and deliver it to the Golden Corner Food Pantry. This drive is held in early May.
SHARED BLESSING PANTRY – Located outside our Chapter House, the deacons have constructed a small pantry and keep it stocked with nonperishables for the Oconee County needy. There is an invitation to leave prayer requests in the pantry and we pray accordingly each Sunday.
SPC VEGETABLE GARDEN - Created in 2017 and located next to the upper parking lot, our garden gives church volunteers the opportunity to grow in friendship with our Guatemalan neighbors as together we grow healthy and delicious vegetables during the spring, summer and fall to nourish their families.
WINTER COAT DRIVE – This has become an annual event started by a beloved member of our congregation and continued through Office Mulwee of the Seneca Police Department. We have generously donated hundreds of warm items yearly, and our knitting group has hand-crafted hats and scarves for this project.
