Oconee Presbyterian Service Fund

We are a financial and volunteer contributor to OPSF, the Oconee Presbyterian Service Fund.  The Service Fund, which provides financial assistance to our community, is located at our Chapter House located directly across from the church on North S. 1st Street.

Oconee Presbyterian Service Fund was formed April 10, 1989, with Luther McAlister, President, Charles Reichenbach, Treasurer, and Thornwell Senn, Secretary.  The purposes of the Fund were stated: (a) to promote the purposes and objectives of the Oconee Presbyterian Service Fund, representing the collective Presbyterian churches of Oconee County, and (b) to provide assistance to individuals and families of Oconee County that need help within the capability of the Fund.  The Fund has been housed at West Union Chapel, Richland Presbyterian Church, and currently operates from Seneca Presbyterian Church.

We also provide a strong emphasis on education aimed at helping people help themselves.  We also assist those who come to us find other organizations who can assist them.

Our mission is to enable persons in financial crisis to find help by providing financial assistance that applies to immediate need, by providing hope and referrals to other agencies, and by encouraging planning for the future.
